CartCompare is an independent research site that compares e-commerce platforms, store builders, and online marketplaces side by side. We help marketplace sellers (Etsy, Amazon, eBay) and small business owners choose between store builders, marketplaces, and AI-operated commerce platforms without wading through vendor-written “comparison” pages that always conclude in the vendor’s own favor.
How We Compare
Every comparison on CartCompare is built against the same fixed framework, applied consistently whether we’re covering a 20-year-old open-source project or a brand-new AI-operated storefront:
- Pricing — real published tiers and transaction fees, not vague “affordable” claims
- Core features — what each platform actually lets you build and run
- Ease of use — how much setup, technical skill, and ongoing maintenance it takes
- Who each platform actually fits — a real recommendation, not a list of features with no verdict
Our comparisons are sourced from vendor pricing pages, public documentation, and cross-referenced research, not paid placements. Every comparison gives both platforms in a pairing at least one genuine advantage; a comparison that never has a downside for one side isn’t analysis, it’s marketing, and we try hard not to write that.
What We’ve Covered So Far
CartCompare has published 301 platform comparisons, drawn from a fixed roster of 25 e-commerce platforms, store builders, and marketplaces (including StableCommerce), covering every pairing across that roster exactly once.
